Email us with a brief outline of what is happening
What happens next?
1. You contact us
You can call, email or complete the short enquiry form. You only need to give us a brief outline of what is happening.
2. We guide you through the next step
We will let you know whether a behaviour consultation is likely to be appropriate and explain what information we need.
3. We gather the history and veterinary referral
We may send you a behaviour history form, complete it with you during an initial call, and request a vet referral if one has not already been provided. Behaviour consultations usually require veterinary involvement because health, pain and medication can all affect behaviour. If your vet has not already referred you, please do not worry — we can explain what is needed and help guide the process.
4. We arrange your consultation
Once the relevant information has been received, we can book your consultation and explain what will happen before, during and after your appointment.
Common concerns we help with
Behaviour problems can feel stressful, upsetting and difficult to manage, especially when they affect everyday life at home or out on walks. We support owners with a range of dog and cat behaviour concerns, including:
Aggression towards people, dogs, cats or other animals
Reactivity on walks, at home or in the car
Fear, anxiety or avoidance behaviours
Resource guarding around food, toys, stolen items, spaces or people
Behaviour changes that may be linked to pain, health, stress or environment
Difficulties that have not improved with previous training support
You do not need to know exactly why the behaviour is happening before contacting us.
Our role is to help you understand what may be contributing to the problem and guide you towards the most appropriate next step.
Vet referral explanation - Why we work with your vet
Behaviour is closely linked with physical health, pain, medication, learning history, environment and emotional wellbeing. For this reason, behaviour consultations usually involve your veterinary practice.
A vet referral helps us understand your pet’s health background and consider whether medical factors may be influencing their behaviour. It also allows us to work collaboratively with your vet where ongoing support, investigation or medication may be relevant.
If your vet has already referred you, please let us know when you contact us.
If you have not spoken to your vet yet, please do not worry. You can still start an enquiry with us, and we will explain what information is needed and guide you through the process.
Fees and insurance - Understanding fees and insurance
Behaviour consultations are a specialist service and include more than the consultation appointment itself. Depending on the service, this may include reviewing your pet’s history, considering veterinary information, preparing for the consultation, the consultation appointment, a written behaviour plan and follow-up support.
Some pet insurance policies may cover behaviour consultations, depending on your policy and provider. We recommend checking with your insurer before booking if you would like to use insurance.
We are happy to explain what is usually required for an insurance claim and what information you may need from your veterinary practice.
Do I need a vet referral before contacting you?
No. You can contact us first. If a vet referral is needed and you do not already have one, we will explain what is required and guide you through the process.
Can I speak to someone before completing the history form?
Yes. You can call or email us first. After we have spoken with you, we may send the history form for you to complete, or we may be able to complete it with you during an initial call.
Why do you need a history form?
The history form helps us understand your pet’s behaviour, background, environment, routines, health history and the situations where problems occur. This helps us prepare properly and provide more appropriate support.
What if I am not sure whether I need a behaviour consultation?
That is completely fine. Start by contacting us with a brief outline of what is happening. We can help you decide whether a behaviour consultation, training class, practical support session or another route is most appropriate.
Can you guarantee my pet’s behaviour will improve?
No ethical behaviour professional can guarantee a specific outcome, because behaviour is influenced by many factors, including health, emotions, learning history, environment and how easily a plan can be implemented. What we can promise is that we will bring our full knowledge, skills and professional experience to support you and your pet, and we will be honest with you about what may be realistic.
Do you only work with local clients?
We support local clients in Lincolnshire and surrounding areas, particularly where practical or in-person support is needed. Some behaviour support may also be available remotely, depending on the case and what is appropriate for your pet. For our international clients, all support is provided remotely.
What happens after I contact you?
We will review your enquiry and guide you to the next step. This may involve a phone call or email, completing a history form, requesting a vet referral, checking insurance information, and then arranging a consultation if appropriate.
